About the Magazine: We love our lakes in Minnesota, in every season. Dockside Magazine covers lake life all year round. Publishing four times a year, the magazine invites readers to enjoy an engaging mix of features covering lifestyle-related stories and recreational-oriented topics, capturing the passion we have for playing and living on our gorgeous Minnesota lakes. We focus our attention on Lake Minnetonka, Prior Lake, and all of the scenic lakes in our southwest metro region.

Each issue offers you a variety of topics: Lake Front Find boating and shoreline tips, information about selected events, and an area map showing the lakes that Dockside covers.

Dockside's Winter 2012 issue just around the corner

With the new year comes a facelift of sorts for Dockside magazine. First off is a new name - Dockside Minnesota. We still feature the outdoors and lake-centric stories you've come to expect over the past two years but we've learned that readers want more stories, tips and features about life inside their homes.

The mid-summer issue of Dockside is coming together

Part of the fun of designing each issue of Dockside magazine is sifting through the photos and finding those that work best with the stories that have been wirtten. It's no easy task to choose a handful of photos from dozens upon dozens of photos which the writers and photographers have taken to accompany these fantastic stories about the fun, interesting or unique facets of lake life and the awesome activities that can be found for anyone brave enough to venture in to or on one of Minnesota's thousands of lakes.

With what was truly a wealth of photos for the mid-summer issue of Dockside magazine, the task seemed daunting but with the design done for the most part and a copy floating around the office, the reaction has been very positive thus far and I'm particularly excited for people to read the story about wakeboarding's rise in popularity. I just wish I was brave enough to take the water and perform the types of aquatic acrobatics that the subjects of the photos partake in.

Those photos are nothing short of amazing. It made me feel like I was riding the waves and skittering in and out of the boat's wake right with these guys!

A more accessible aspect for the general public is the feature story on the Prior Lake/Shakopee Shockwaves waterski team. With skiers as young as seven years old, their performances on Prior Lake were wonderfully captured by writer and photographer Kristin Holtz.

That's just the tip of the iceberg for the upcoming issue of Dockside magazine.
